What are you building, and who benefits most from it?

Gepek is a carpooling platform for packages that aims to create a collaborative ecosystem where individuals who are already traveling to specific destinations can carry packages for others along their route. By leveraging existing trips, Gepek optimizes delivery routes and promotes resource efficiency.

The primary goal of Gepek is to benefit both senders and receivers of packages, as well as the environment. Here’s how different parties can benefit from such a platform:

Senders of packages: Gepek offers senders a cost-effective alternative to traditional shipping methods. They can utilize the spare capacity in vehicles already heading toward the package’s destination, thus reducing shipping costs and potentially experiencing faster delivery times.

Receivers of packages: Gepek benefits receivers by providing them with a flexible and convenient delivery option. They can choose from a network of trusted travelers already bound for their desired location, potentially leading to faster and more reliable package delivery.

Travelers: Individuals who are already planning trips can benefit from Gepek by monetizing the available space in their vehicles. By taking packages along their route, they can earn extra income while contributing to the sharing economy.

The environment: Gepek’s carpooling approach for packages has a positive impact on the environment. By making it possible to utilize existing travel routes and share transportation resources, the platform reduces the number of individual vehicles on the road. This, in turn, helps lower CO2 emissions and promotes sustainable practices, contributing to a greener future.

What is one of your startup’s most impressive accomplishments?

One of our most impressive accomplishments is the rapid growth of our user base. Within a short span of time, we have gained the trust and support of thousands of users who have embraced our innovative carpooling platform for packages. Their positive feedback and active participation have been instrumental in driving our success.

Additionally, we are proud to have secured our first round of investments, which speaks to the confidence that investors have in our business model and its potential for growth. These early financial backers recognize the unique value proposition our platform offers in the logistics industry.

Our startup has also gained significant recognition in the media, with features in renowned publications such as TechCrunch. The exposure has helped us raise awareness about our platform and reach a wider audience, further establishing our credibility in the market.

One of our key strengths lies in our team’s extensive expertise and experience in logistics, IT, and startup development. With each member boasting over 20 years of industry experience in their respective fields, we have built a strong foundation of knowledge and skills. This collective expertise enables us to navigate challenges, make informed decisions, and continually innovate to meet the evolving needs of our users and the industry as a whole.

While these accomplishments demonstrate our startup’s progress and potential, we remain committed to driving further growth, enhancing user experiences, and revolutionizing the way packages are delivered through our platform.

What has been the biggest challenge so far, and how did you overcome it?

The biggest challenge we’ve faced so far was transitioning from the minimum viable product (MVP) stage to full-scale product development. After testing our MVP and receiving valuable feedback from early users, we recognized the need to refine and expand our platform to meet their evolving needs.

To tackle this challenge, we adopted an iterative approach to product development. We closely analyzed user feedback, identified pain points, and prioritized key features and enhancements based on user demand. Our dedicated development team worked tirelessly to implement these improvements, ensuring a seamless user experience and addressing any technical issues that arose.

Another significant challenge was building a stable and cohesive team. We recognized that success hinged on assembling a talented and passionate group of individuals who shared our vision. By leveraging our extensive networks and conducting rigorous interviews, we carefully selected team members who possessed not only the necessary skills but also a deep understanding of the logistics, IT, and startup development domains.

Balancing supply and demand on our platform was another major challenge. We worked diligently to attract both package senders and travelers, aiming for a healthy equilibrium that ensured packages were efficiently matched with available travelers. To address this, we focused on marketing and user acquisition strategies to attract a diverse user base on both sides of the equation. Additionally, we implemented intelligent algorithms and dynamic pricing models to incentivize participation and optimize the matching process.

What marketing strategies have worked for you?

We utilize digital advertising platforms and social media advertising to target specific audience segments. We tailor our ads to highlight the unique value proposition of a carpooling platform for packages, emphasizing the benefits for both senders and travelers.

We reached out to relevant journalists, bloggers, and industry publications to share Gepek’s story, milestones, and unique value proposition. Being featured in media outlets significantly boosted our visibility and credibility.

What has been your biggest business failure to date? What did you learn from it?

One of our biggest business challenges was striking the right balance between security and user experience (UX) in our application. Initially, we prioritized stringent security measures to protect user data and ensure the platform’s integrity. However, this led to an overly complex user interface and a cumbersome user experience, which ultimately affected user adoption and satisfaction.

From this, we learned the importance of striking a balance between security and user-friendliness. While it is crucial to have robust security measures in place to protect user information and maintain trust, it is equally important to create a seamless and intuitive user experience.

Striking the right balance between security and UX remains an ongoing effort, and we are committed to continuously improving and refining our application based on user needs and industry best practices.

What’s the best specific piece of advice you have for other entrepreneurs?

One is to embrace problems and view them as an opportunity for growth. Problems are an inherent part of the entrepreneurial journey, and they can provide valuable lessons and insights that propel you forward. Embrace them, learn from them, and keep pushing forward with determination, adaptability, and a growth mindset.
